Our Story
Today
J. Read Corporation is an open shop construction company headquartered in Hingham, Massachusetts. We work in both the public and private (commercial and residential) sectors. We are fully licensed, insured and bondable.
Our primary area of operation is Eastern Massachusetts (inside of I-495).
History
J Read Corporations parent company, The Read Corporation, was the inventor and manufacturer of the Read Screen-All line of portable materials screening plants. James Read sold the company in 1997 and formed Hingham Crushing Solutions (HCS) with his son Gregory. HCS became a major supplier of processed materials to the Big Dig. In 2000, Jim & Greg closed part of the HCS Quarry to begin development of the Black Rock Country Club & The Residences at Black Rock. This led to the creation of the J Read Corporation (JRC, incorporated in 2003), an in-house sitework company. It wasn’t long before JRC entered into a subcontract agreement with Linden Ponds, a large retirement community adjacent to the golf course community. With the successful completion of Linden Ponds, JRC has continued to complete many successful sitework projects throughout Eastern Massachusetts. For more information please visit our PROJECTS page.
